Family research:William Bean of Byland Abbey was the grandfather of John Bean (1860 - 1909) who lived in York and then emigrated to the USA around 1881 - he was my great grandfather. John eventually became Clerk of the District Court and died in Butte, Montana in 1909. I was born in Butte (pronounced bute), married an Englishman and moved to England in 1970. I would be so grateful for a copy of this headstone. I have just finished his family tree and could supply a word doc copy to GPR for your records, if that helped. KSJ
