Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I have an ancestor who went under the name of James Dudney Capon born about 1818, in Sussex. His birth date varies considerably on different census reports, and we have never been able to trace his birth record. On his marriage certificate to Mary Jane Boniface in 1842 it states his father's name was James Dudney. I do have that certificate if it is useful to anybody. He really was a most evasive man who hated giving details about himself. On one census he told the numerator that he was born in France ! We know that is not true because the rest of the family were always recorded correctly. We have never found a marriage for his parents and we think that his mother probably came from the Capon family. I just am intrigued that you have a James Dudney Hunter, and wonder if there is any connection.
